Begin your project by cutting and scoring the cake topper pieces found in the linked Cricut file. All the images and fonts used for this project are available via Cricut access. The scoring stylus is used to outline the ‘Graduated’ letters, acting as a guide for placing each letter.
Start by gluing together the lemons and graduation cap using liquid glue. The graduation cap is comprised of three separate pieces in Lessebo Black, Canary, and Granite. The single lemon is accented with one of the white blossoms. The sliced lemon has a delicate Sorbet Yellow piece showing off each lemon segment.

Next, glue together the two scalloped base pieces, cut from Sorbet Yellow. I used two pieces simply to make the cake topper’s base even more sturdy. Two pieces of quality 100 lb cardstock certainly do the trick!
Now it’s time to complete the ‘Graduated’ banner. As mentioned earlier, this step is made much easier by scoring an outline of each letter with your cutting machine. Carefully place each letter in its spot on the banner.

With all the details completed, the cake topper is ready for assembly! Start at the top by gluing the single lemon in the upper left-hand corner. Before gluing the graduation cap, I chose to use some foam squares on the back for additional dimension. This step is completely optional.
Next, glue the ‘Graduated’ banner to the base, leaving some space at the bottom for the other lemons. Then attach the ‘Freshly’ script above the banner. Add on the remaining small blossoms to fill in some of the bare space.
At the bottom of the topper, attach the set of lemons. I used foam squares again to add some balanced dimension to the bottom corner of the topper.
As a final addition to the topper, glue the lemon ‘spritz’ next to the Freshly script. Craft tweezers come in handy for these tiny pieces. This is probably my favorite little detail on the topper.
For the final cake topper step, attach a topper stick of your choice to the back using a hot glue gun. You could add another piece on the back to cover the stick, if desired, as an additional step.

This ‘Freshly Graduated’ cake topper is ripe for graduation party time! Place it in a festive cake or a delicious lemon meringue pie, as pictured.
