Hey crafters! This 3d paper purse is absolutely gorgeous and very quick to make. The extra layers add reinforcement, making it very strong for your gift-giving. This bag is perfect for Mother's Day, makeup-themed parties, a fancy birthday, or anything that requires a touch of chic! Let's get started!
Materials:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock papers:
- Purse SVG File from Creative Fabrica
- Electronic Cutting Machine
- Bearly Art® Liquid Precision Glue
As always, you'll start by adding the SVG file linked above to your die cutting machine and adjust it as needed for your machine and the size you want. Don't forget to "select all" before you resize to ensure you don't mess up the proportions. Cut all your pieces from your chosen colors. I used 130 lb. Ebony for the base pieces to make it nice and strong, and I love using the Stardream paper to add shimmer!
I started my assembly with the handles, gluing the two handle pieces together before adding the gold accents. Next, I glued on the white decorative pieces to the front of my bag. The black glitter sheet has a placement guide you’ll use to perfectly center them. I really wanted to emboss these layers for a nice “quilted purse” look, but I resized this purse at a larger scale, and my embossing folders weren’t big enough- so keep this in mind if you'd like to emboss yours. Once my white panels were glued on, I grabbed the black layer without the scored sides and glued the panel on top. This gives us a nice bit of sturdiness, especially since I used 130lb paper for my base layers.
Then, I assembled the initials for the front. I used my mom’s initials and glued them onto the glitter square before gluing that onto the gold square. I placed it on the front layer of the bag, using the marked placement guide for perfect alignment.

Next, I grabbed the two bag panels that have scored lines and folded them before applying glue to the tabs to seal them together. Once the two sides were glued, I grabbed the two rectangular pieces that would be the bottom bag closure. Pay attention because one is just slightly larger for the outside of the bag, while the smaller rectangle will go inside.
Attach the larger rectangle to one of the long tabs on the bottom of the box and make sure it's secure, then put glue on the other three tabs and seal the bottom of the box shut. Now you can glue the smaller rectangle into the bottom of the inside of the box to hide the tabs and add reinforcement.
Next, we’re going to glue the additional reinforcement layers to the inside of the bag to hide the glued tabs. I added glue to each piece and then carefully slid it into the inside of the bag, making sure to press it down well. Repeat this step with the other side.

Now we’ll glue the decorative panels on the box, carefully lining them up at the edges. At the back of the box, I added a small red decorative layer to match the bow we’ll add to the front.
Next, I used a scoring stylus (optional) to round out the bow layers - this helped me create the bow without it being creased since it’s a thick paperweight. You can use any kind of smooth tool to do this, like a marker or a bone folder. There’s a panel marked with a “G” on the edge that we can use to start gluing our bow panels together. Once they’re glued, fold the squares and glue inward. Finally, flipping it over, we’ll add some glue and attach the back of the bow before gluing it to the front of the beautiful bag!

I filled this purse with some of my mom's favorite things, including some makeup and self care items, a new wallet with a gift card, and some perfume. If you'd like, you could also stuff the top with some decorative tissue paper to finish it up. I know my mom is going to love this special gift!
