Hi everyone! Natasha of @PoliteCreations, sharing a fun and simple celebratory card. Mine happens to be Cinco de Mayo themed, but you can use this fringe technique to make a piñata-inspired card for any festive occasion!
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock paper:
- Brass & Bliss Medium Fringe Die
- Spellbinders Sip Sip Ole Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set
- Versa Clair Ink
- Tools
- Die Cutting Machine
- Betterpress
- Scissors
- Adhesives:
- Sequins (optional)
Die cut the fringe twice from each of the colors except white. If you don't have a fringe die, you can easily cut these by hand by cutting long strips, then cutting short fringe into one edge of the strips. (Although I show the white fringe, I ended up not using it.) I ran my finger across the fringe to separate each slit and give the fringe movement. Add double-sided adhesive to the top portion of the back of each strip. Before peeling off the backing of the adhesive, lay out your strips to be sure you know what order you want them in.
Cut a panel of white down to 3 3/4 “ x 5”. Starting from the bottom, add a fringe. I aligned the bottom of the first piece of fringe to the bottom of the panel. I then eyeballed placement for the next color to be halfway covering the piece that is in place. Repeat this process until your get close to the top.
Once to the top of the panel, add a strip of double sided adhesive to the top of the panel, and adhere the final fringe.

Carefully cut the excess away on the sides. Add foam to the back of the panel and center it onto an A2 panel of white. The foam is optional here, but it really makes the card stand out, giving the feel of a real piñata!
Grabbing a half sheet of white, use the BetterPress and black ink to create the sentiment. Die cut them and pop one into the center of the card. As a final touch, I added a few iridescent sequins on the the panel. You could also use rhinestones, or any other embellishments you have on hand.

This card is super versatile, just switch out the colors and sentiment for whatever you are celebrating. It would also be so fun to use Stardream Pearlescent Metallic paper for a bit of shimmer!

I hope this card inspired you to get out some cardstock and Make Something Beautiful® for someone special!
Fun add-on note: You can use this same fringe technique to build 3d pinata decorations for your party as well! Just create a 3d paper shape, and adhere the strips around it with hot glue!
