Die Cut Paper "Cutie Pie" Valentine's Day Pennants

Cutie Pie Valentine Pennants

It's the season of love, and nothing shows it better than a homemade treat! I’m a cake lover through and through, but a close second would be a delicious pie. These adorable Valentine’s Day pennants are inspired by a sweet, homemade treat. Maybe even the “cutie pie” in your life! The pennants are made from a variety of cardstock shades from the Cardstock Warehouse Sweetheart Shades Multipack.

Supplies:

Start by cutting the pennant pieces from the Cricut project file provided. All the images used are available through Cricut Access. I chose images that went with my Valentine baking theme, but these could be customized in so many ways for the Valentine’s Day holiday.

First, glue all the main pennant pieces together using liquid glue and a tape runner. I chose to double up the pennant pieces in this project for extra sturdiness. I love and appreciate how Cardstock Warehouse’s paper holds itself, not bending or warping over time.

The first pennant design is the adorable heart-shaped hand pie. In my mind, this little pie is cherry flavored, to match the Lessebo Cherry cardstock shade. Glue the white pennant rectangle detail, followed by the hand pie pieces. The last decoration is the tiny white bow.

The second pennant design features a playful red and white striped oversized bow. Using liquid glue, carefully glue the bow layers together. I was so impressed with the crisp cuts on the bow’s stripes.

The last pennant design is the scripty font ‘Cutie Pie’. Begin by attaching the script lettering with liquid glue. Craft tweezers come in handy for the little dots on the i’s and tiny hearts.

With the pennants glued together, you can now add the wooden skewers to the back. Place a thin strip of hot glue on the back of each pennant and then attach the wooden skewer. A low-temperature hot glue gun is all you need.

As a completely optional step, I chose to add some festive ribbon to the pennants. I like to say I’m a ribbon collector, not a hoarder, so I had all these ribbon options on hand. A great way to use up some stash! I cut relatively equal lengths of each chosen ribbon, wrapped the ends at the top of each skewer, and secured them with a bit of hot glue.

These ‘cutie pie’ pennants are perfect for decorating a Valentine’s Day gift, using them as treat toppers, or simply displaying them as decor in your home! You could even personalize them and use them as party favors at a Galentine's Day celebration!
