Summer Camp Banner and Garland

Summer Camp Banner and Garland

I love campfires, s’mores, brats (not a hot dog fan… yeah, I know…), and all the yummy smells of summer camping! One of my most favorite things about the summer is our family backyard campouts and campfires, and of course, I love to add a little extra touch with some adorable banners and handmade party goods! I would love to show you how I made them… let's get started!!

Supplies:

Start by cutting all your pieces out. I’ll apologize now for how many pieces there are, but it is so worth it in the end! If you do not have a Cricut, you can search your machine’s software for similar images.

Pro Tip: After I cut my pieces, I like to sort all the pieces in piles for each image because it makes gluing so much faster!

For the banner with letters, you can change the text box to say whatever you want, and then add an offset layer for the second color. I made my banner say “Camp Hoover.” You can make yours say whatever you want; your last name, a first name, a fun saying, etc.

Let's assemble the Camp Hoover banner first. Using Bearly Art liquid glue, layer the green cuts on top of the Harvest pennants. There are four different pennants in the file, and you can duplicate them to get as many as you need.

Then glue together the layers for your compass. This will hang in between the two words of my banner. I used foam dots to pop up the needle. The little pops of holographic are so fun for the "metal" pieces.

Next, assemble your letters. I used liquid glue to assemble the layers of the letters, and then popped up the letters on the pennants with foam dots to give them some dimension.

Now you are ready to string your banner. I like to use a matching color of baker’s twine to string mine. These pennants come with pre-cut holes, so you can just slide them on and space them however you like. I'm going to keep mine pretty close together.

Now it's time to make the camp garland banner. Separate all of your images into piles and work one image at a time to avoid confusing your pieces.

For the Happy Camper pennant, glue the ribbon strip to the wide end of the pennant first. Then lay out all of the letters before gluing them to ensure you get the spacing right. Pro Tip: When gluing HAPPY, start with the first P in the center to help with the spacing.

We’ll assemble the Adventure pennant the same way. Lay out “Adventure” and arrange it to your liking before gluing. I like to start at the small end when placing the letters; once the letters are where I like them, I glue them down.

Continue working through the images, gluing the die-cut layers together bottom to top. I love how cute these images are! I especially love the little camper! One day I will own one of these!

For small pieces, like the details on the bear, you can use a wax pencil to place your pieces.

Finally, let’s string the banner. Since this banner is made out of images from Cricut Design Space, there are no premade holes for stringing. Lay the images out in the way you want them to hang, then punch holes, making sure they line up correctly for stringing.

Ready for the exciting part? It’s time to decorate! String your banners up somewhere visible like on a deck, between two trees, on the outside of a tent, or anywhere else you want to add some woodland camping-themed fin!

I paired these banners with some handmade signs, s’mores treat boxes, and little campfire place cards. These images are also in the Cricut file, and I’ll let you work through those on your own if you’re interested!

Having these parties with my family is a memory that I hope my daughter will cherish as she gets older. It's such a fun way to spend time together, and a fun excuse to do some crafting for myself. And thanks to Cardstock Warehouse's amazing paper, I can put these paper decoration pieces away and use them over and over all summer long!
