Spooky Halloween Shaker Card

Spooky Halloween Shaker Card

Hi crafty friends, are you getting excited for Halloween? I am, so I decided to make this fun “Spooky” shaker card. I used fun cardstock with glitter and sparkle to make this card come to life! Let’s get started.

Supplies:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers: Bright White, Ebony, Flame, Black MirriSparkle, Diamond Print Inkjet Glitter White
  • Spooky Large Word Die
  • Assorted Grey Inks
  • Plastic Acetate for Shaker
  • Liquid Glue
  • Foam Tape
  • Seed Beads

I started by die cutting the “Spooky” die multiple times in different cardstocks. I used Ebony, Flame (for the word Spooky), Black Sparkle (for the bat and spider) and White Glitter (for the spider web)

I then die cut it 4 more times in Ebony cardstock and glued them together with liquid glue.

Black die cut spooky layers

I took a piece of plastic acetate and trimmed it to fit over the openings in the “p” and two “o’s” and glued it with liquid glue onto the front of the stacked dies.

Now it is time to assemble the rest of the die. I added three more layers to the bat, two with Ebony cardstock and topped it off with Black Glitter cardstock. I also used the Black Glitter cardstock for the spider. I glued the White Glitter cardstock web and the Flame “Spooky” letters on top of the clear plastic. So now it is sandwiched between the black and colored layers.

I ink blended a piece of Bright White cardstock with Sea Salt in the center, then Earl Grey towards the outsides and then finally Poppyseed on all of the edges. I trimmed it down about ¼” on all sides.

I flipped the “Spooky” sentiment over and added two layers of foam tape stack on top of each other, around the openings, making sure that the foam tape connects. The foam tape needs to connect, so the shaker bits won’t fall out. I also added foam tape to the rest of the die cut. Now fill the opening with orange seed beads. Peel back all of the release paper and add the inked background to the die cut and press down firmly to make sure the tape is stuck to the card panel. Flip it back over and give it a shake.

Adhere that panel to a white A2 size card base and finish with a sentiment from the Mini Strips Halloween stamp set, stamped with Candy Corn ink. Add a few drops of Ebony Nuvo Crystal Drops.
