Hi Crafty Friends! Kayla here from HoneyBee Paper Co.
My ALL TIME favorite holiday, next to Halloween of course, is Fourth of July! I love the activities, the family time, the meaning behind the holiday plus who doesn’t love all the red, white and blue decor?!
So today, I’d love for you all to follow along as I make some fun plank signs!
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
- Stars and Stripes Multi-pack Collection
- Cherry Wood Veneer
- Cutting machine or paper cutter and die cuts
- 2-Way Glue Pen
- Scor-Tape Crafters Tape
Open up Design Space or whichever software you prefer (if you’re using dies, skip this step). Search for things like "4th of July," "America," etc to find the images you want. You can see the ones I am using below.
For the “planks” I am using a square image and then sizing it to 3.5” x 0.5”, this size will be used for the square board. For the rectangle board, I made the strips 8” x 0.77” and for the circle board I made the strips 4” x 0.57”.
The back of the signs are just basic shapes. I sized the circle to 4” x 4”, the squares are 3.5” x 3” and the long rectangle is 8” x 3.59”. Feel free to resize however you like or according to where you think you’ll be using these signs. Because I am using mine on a tiered tray, I wanted these sizes specifically to fit that.
Begin cutting! For the strips and the backs of the popsicles, I used the Cherry Wood Veneer. For the other images I used all five colors from the Stars and Stripes Collection.
Using my 2-Way Glue Pen and Crafter’s Tape, I’m going to begin assembling my signs. Attach the wood strips to the white background pieces, leaving just a tiny amount of space between each strip to give that "shiplap" effect. Then use scissors to cut around the shape and remove the excess wood. Next, you will layer on your die cut pieces.

And there we have it, faux plank signs for Fourth of July!
These are ready to display in your home! I used mine on my tiered tray and I love how they look!
Thanks for hanging out and I can’t wait to see what you create for 4th of July! Share your creations with us on our Instagram or Facebook page, and use #cardstockwarehouse for a chance to be featured on our page!
Thank you for following along!
