The pool is OPEN for the season with the official start of summer quickly approaching! I thought it would be fun to host a colorful summer party for the girls, which inspired this pool party invitation. Grab your cutting machine and your bathing suit to dive right into this simple DIY invitation.
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock paper:

Bearly Art® Liquid Precision Glue
- Craft Tweezers
- Cricut Die Cutting Machine
Step 1: Print and Cut Your Pieces
Begin your project by opening the linked Cricut file and customizing your invitation wording and party details. Once your customization is complete, use the ‘Attach’ then ‘Flatten’ buttons to attach the writing to the base of the invitation. This will allow you to use the Cricut ‘Print Then Cut’ feature for your invitation. Print and cut all the images from the project and gather the rest of the supplies. All the images used for this project are available via Cricut Access at the link above.
Once your pieces are cut, glue the Hot Pink wavy trim to the front of the invitation, following the curved edges as your guide. The Colorplan Hot Pink shade is the perfect bright pink for summertime!
Step 2: Glue the Detail Layers
Next, assemble the layered images, which will be on the front of the invitation (the striped floaty and the bikini bottoms), using liquid glue. Your craft tweezers will come in handy here for the smaller pieces, especially for the bikini bottom stripes.
Step 3: Assemble the Invitation
With all the invitation details assembled, you can begin gluing all the summer icons to the front of the invitation. Begin with the ‘Pool’ bubble wording to ensure proper spacing at the top of the invite, followed by the ‘Party’ cursive letters.
Next, add the Colorplan Rust tropical beverage to the upper right corner of the invitation. Whether it’s a Mango Iced Tea or a Mai Tai…it’s the ideal (paper) beverage for a pool party.
Next up is the retro style two-piece bathing suit. Attach the bikini with liquid glue to the left-hand side of the invitation.
The final layered image is the adorable striped pool floaty. The floaty fits directly to the left of the party instructions. This floaty color combination is so cute, I wish I had one just like it!
Last, but not least, glue the Colorplan Marrs Green water “splash” next to the address details. This simple addition makes the invitation feel more whimsical & complete at the same time.
Step 4: Pool Party Time!
This party invitation is ready to make a splash this summer season! Customize it as desired for a birthday party or girl’s night in. Pair the invitation with a matching Colorplan Rust A7 Envelope to complete the look. It will surely be the talk of every guest in attendance.
You also don't have to stop at just the invitation. I used the same Cricut images to make straw decorations, and you could even use them to make a cute banner! Let your imagination wander and enjoy the crafting process! You never know where it will take you.
