Let’s Make the Cutest Flower Paperclip Embellishment!
Today I’m sharing how to make this adorable floral paperclip embellishment that’s perfect for journals, scrapbook layouts, or even as a bookmark. It’s dimensional, customizable, and honestly just so fun to put together! Give them as gifts, use them as party favors, gather your gals and have a craft night... So many options!
Supplies Used
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock papers:
- Adhesives
- Needle + cream DMC floss
- Inks
- White gel pen
- Acrylic pens
- Die Cutting Machine
- Dies: small flowers and a bowl, flower pot, or semicircle shape
- Ball end tool
- Foam Pad
- Beads (optional, but highly encouraged 😉)
Start by cutting your Purple and Lavender cardstock to 1.375” x 4”. Fold the Purple piece diagonally around a paperclip. This angled fold adds such a fun, unexpected look! The Lavender cardstock goes on the inside of the fold and acts as a contrast layer between the folds to give it a little extra pop.
Glue the Lavender layer to the bottom Purple layer with liquid glue first, and then trim the end of your Lavender paper, and trim a pennant shape into the end of the Purple piece. Now add foam tape between the Lavender and top Purple layers to "seal" the pennant closed on the paperclip and build dimension. Make sure the paperclip can still move around, but that it cannot fall off.

Next, cut a piece of white cardstock to 1.25” x 1.5”. I die cut a planter using the Shiitake cardstock and glued it onto the white cardstock base. You can use any half-moon or semicircle die shape you have, or cut one by hand!
Using a needle, pierce holes at each end of the planter, then thread cream DMC floss through to create an upside down “V” for a hanging planter look. This adds a fun detail!

Now die cut the flowers. Any small flower dies that you have will work for this. I used all of the fun, bright colors listed above to cut these out. I inked the edges to add a depth of color to the flowers. Place the flowers on a foam pad and use a ball end tool to gently curve the petals to pop up the petals.

Glue the flowers onto the planter and finish them off with painted centers using acrylic pens.
At this point, the paperclip is already adorable, but if you want to take it next level, add some dangly beads on the side for a fun, playful finish!

This embellishment is cute all on its own, but it also makes the sweetest little statement clipped onto a book, planner, or scrapbook layout page. It's also a fun gift and is easy to make many of them at once. Decorate them with whatever dies you have, and 💕
