The holiday season is quickly approaching, and I love having unique décor pieces that I can enjoy year after year. I tend to gravitate towards bright holiday colors, with a touch of traditional hues. Follow along to see how to make this ‘merry & bright’ ornament wreath, in paper form.
Supplies:
- Carsdtock Warehouse cardstock paper:
- Adhesives:
- Cricut Cutting Machine
Start by cutting and scoring all the wreath pieces from the Cricut project file provided. The cut file includes some ornaments scored down the center, which will turn into 3D ornaments, and others without scoring for layering purposes. You can find the list of colors I used above. Once my pieces were cut, I stacked them up by color to stay organized while I assembled.

To start your assembly, glue the two Kraft circle pieces together using adhesive tape and liquid glue. This helps provide some extra structure to the back of the wreath. The entire circle will be covered with our ornament pieces.
Next, lay out all the un-scored ornament pieces on top of the wreath backing. You can follow the pattern shown in the Cricut file itself to ensure all the wreath backing is appropriately covered. With the pattern laid out, begin to glue down the ornament pieces one by one, securing with liquid glue.

Now it’s time to create the beautiful 3D ornament pieces. Begin by folding all the scored ornament pieces in half along the score lines. Each ornament requires 5 folded pieces. Once folded, glue the backs of each piece together, creating a beautiful 3D effect. I’m using Bearly Art® Precision Glue so that I have an extra second or two to wiggle the pieces and make sure they’re perfectly lined up.

Repeat the same steps above for each style and color ornament. Tip – as you glue the backs of each piece, it’s helpful to pinch and hold them together as the glue dries. The alignment can be a bit tricky, but the result is so worth it.

With the 3D ornaments completed, they are ready to adhere to the wreath. Carefully fan out each ornament, placing liquid glue on the back and placing it on the corresponding ornament piece. I waited to place the top Chartreuse ornament, as I wanted to finalize the nearby bow placement first.

Now it’s time to ‘put a bow on it’! This colorful holiday wreath would not be complete without a big 3D Cherry red bow. Gather the (3) bow pieces and start with the bowtie shaped piece. Fold each side of the bow inward and slide the half circle into the small slit on each side.
After creating the main portion of the bow, there are two pieces remaining. Wrap the small rectangular piece around the middle of the bow, securing with the small slit in the back. Lastly, glue the bow “tails” to the back of the bow.

You can now attach the 3D bow to the top of the wreath, securing with liquid glue or a bit of hot glue if needed. Ensure you leave enough room for the final 3D ornament to the left of the bow.

This ‘merry & bright’ paper ornament wreath is complete! Depending on how you’d like to hang or display the wreath, you could attach some ribbon or small hook to the back if desired. I love how this craft turned out and can’t wait to hang it up for the holiday season.
