Start by cutting all the pieces from the project file provided and gathering the rest of your cake topper supplies. All the images used in this project are available in the Cricut Design Space link above, along with a full list of supplies.
Once your pieces are cut, using liquid glue, glue the Sorbet Yellow sunshine to one of the white background pieces. I chose this light shade of yellow for the sun so it was not too bright behind the flowers.
Next, it’s time to glue the greenery and flowers at the bottom of the topper. Start with the Fairway greenery piece and add the sweet Candy Pink daisies on top (also using liquid glue). The bottom of this cake topper is starting to bloom!
To finish off the blooming daisies, glue and place the Arancio centers carefully on each flower. For this step, some craft tweezers come in handy to hold the tiny pieces.
Now it’s time to add the whimsical Lagoon umbrella. First, attach the main umbrella piece (with handle) using liquid glue. For the second umbrella piece, I chose to add some foam tape for additional dimension. Add the foam tape to the back of the umbrella and a touch of liquid glue if needed to adhere.
Next, let’s add in the “shower” portion of this topper – the raincloud and lovable heart raindrops. I wanted the cloud to stick out a bit further than the umbrella, so I used a thicker foam square for the back of the cloud. Tweezers help when placing the heart raindrops one by one.
Using liquid glue, attach the “Hello Baby” script to the bottom of the umbrella. This could easily be omitted or changed to a different phrase or name.
To make the cake topper a bit sturdier and add some more dimension, I included a second white background piece for layering. Cut strips of foam tape and place them on the front of the white shape. Layer the pieces with the completed topper on top.
For the final step, use your hot glue gun to attach an acrylic stick or wooden skewer to the back of your cake topper. You could also cut a third white piece and sandwich it behind the stick if you'd like to hide the stick completely.
Place your finished cake topper in a cute spring-themed cake – I found the perfect one at a local grocery store. This topper will certainly leave the mom-to-be feeling showered with love!
