Masculine Valentine Card

Masculine Valentine Card

Hey everyone, this is Joy Baldwin AKA Create It With Joy. Thanks for joining me on the blog today. I was so excited that I got to make another Valentine’s Card for the blog. Sometimes it is hard to make a masculine card for such a “girly” holiday but, I think I managed to make it work... hearts and all! I hope you love this card, it really showcases some BEAUTIFUL cardstock!

Supplies:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
    • Pop-Tone Collection Black Licorice
    • Pop-Tone Collection Sweet Tooth White
    • Stardream Collection Lapis Lazuli
    • Foundations Collection Electric Red
    • Silver Mirror
  • Simon Says Stamp Love Messages Stamp & Small Heart Doily Die
  • Spellbinders So Many Sentiments Die
  • Lawn Fawn Heart Shaker Gift Tag
  • Tape Runner
  • Foam Tape
  • Heat Gun

To start this masculine card, I die cut the truck using Black Licorice (tires), Lapis Lazuli (truck), Electric Red (lights and tailgate) and Silver Mirror (lights, bumper, mirrors, and sentiment).

I then cut a bunch of hearts using multiple hearts dies, I cut them out using the Silver Mirror and Electric Red cardstock. I cut a bunch, I didn’t end up using them all but, I will save those for another card.

I wanted to add a little texture to the card, so I took some of the open and solid hearts in different sizes and glued those on the Electric Red cardstock background. I also glued 3 opened Silver Mirror cardstock hearts. I did a little inking to the outside edges of the background panel with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. I did not ink the center. I love how the red cardstock is darker on the outside. It adds interest to the card. I then trimmed that panel down slightly smaller than an A2 size card base. I then glued all the truck pieces together.

As you can see in this photo, the Lapis Lazuli Metallic cardstock is absolutely stunning and is perfect for a truck. The Silver Mirror cardstock is wonderful for the shiny parts of the truck, it couldn’t be more perfect!

Let’s finish this card. I stamped the sentiment onto Sweet Tooth White cardstock and embossed it with silver embossing powder. I cut a piece of Lapis Lazuli cardstock to A2 size, glued that to an A2 size card base. I then glued the red background panel to the card base (now there is a blue framed around the red panel). I glued the sentiment and truck to the background (I used foam tape behind the truck for dimension). I took different sized hearts and glued them into the back of the truck and took the tiniest hearts and glued them onto the big hearts.

Whoever you give this card to, a sweetheart, father, brother or son, they will love it! I hope this card inspires you to create something wonderful! Happy Valentine’s Day!
