Accordion Fold Lunchbox Note

It’s back-to-school season already! My daughter isn’t quite old enough to read lunchbox notes, but I love the idea of placing one in your child’s lunchbox so they know you are thinking of them during the day. Whether it’s the first day of school or a day they need some extra encouragement, this sweet accordion-style mini card is the perfect touch. Follow along for how to make this colorful ‘Have a great day’ card.

Supplies:

Begin by cutting and scoring all of the pieces from the Cricut project file provided. All the images used for this project are available with Cricut Access. I used the paper colors listed above, and love how perfectly the die cuts came out. Good paper truly makes such a difference in my paper crafts!

(*Sidenote: The accordion base can also be cut by hand if you do not have a Cricut. Cut a 12-inch by 3-inch rectangle and score it at 3, 6, and 9 inches. I’m making a back-to-school card today, but you can use this card base to create an accordion card of any theme! Just replace the images with other images, die cuts, or embellishments.)

Fold the rectangular piece of ‘Azure Blue’ cardstock at the score lines, in an accordion fashion. You can use a bone folder tool to get a sharp crease.

With the rectangle piece folded, we can begin decorating each mini square of the card. These were so fun to put together! The first square is made to look like a chalkboard with a little piece of chalk. Using liquid glue, attach the Kelly Green square piece, followed by the white letters. Finish off the square’s design with the white piece of “chalk.”

The next square is a classic red apple. Using liquid glue, attach the ‘Lessebo Cherry’ red apple, the green leaf, and the brown apple stem. Finish the square by adding the white ‘A’ letter to the body of the apple. I give this square an A+ for cuteness!

The third square has the most pieces, but is oh so worth it! Begin by gluing together all the pieces of the adorable pencil on its white base. My favorite detail is the Stardream Silver band mimicking the metal part of a pencil.

Once the pencil image is glued together, attach it to the third square of the accordion card using adhesive tape runner and liquid glue. Then glue the ‘Great’ script letters and the cute pink heart. This square of the card is looking mighty “sharp!”

Now it’s time for the fourth and final square, which includes a bright sunshine and DAY letters. Attach the pieces of the sun directly to the fourth square using liquid glue. Finish the fourth square by gluing down the ‘DAY’ letters on top of the sunshine.

This adorable, accordion mini card is complete and ready to be stashed in your child’s bag or lunchbox. The bright cardstock colors and happy images are bound to bring a smile to their face.
