3d Paper Baseball Box Card

3D Baseball Box Card

Hey, Craft Friends! It’s summertime, and I’m stepping up to the plate with this 3D Baseball Diamond card. This makes a perfect keepsake for birthdays, Father’s Day, or team celebrations! I’ll be showing you how to put this together in a few easy steps. Let’s get started!

Materials:

As always, you’ll need to upload the file into your cutting machine software, and if you’d like to resize, do so while the pieces are grouped. I didn’t resize this file and used it at the uploaded size.

I started by gluing together some of the smaller pieces, the circle for the field, followed by the actual field and the baseball stitching.

Next, we’re going to glue the decorative panels to the front and sides. *It’s important to note here that I glued my blue flaps for the side of the box panels wrong and had to recut them later.* These panels will be folded outward, so the blue panels should be glued on top once folded, or if you’re gluing flat like I did, flip the white piece over and glue the blue pieces to the back. I’ll show you where I fixed this in the next few steps. After all the panels were decorated, I folded along the scored lines to start building the shape of the card.

In the file, there are red and blue circles accompanied by white stars to glue on top - I actually centered and sliced these so I’d have one less thing to glue. Feel free to do this however you’d like. I started gluing the stars into the insert area of the card. You’ll see welded circle marks where they go, so it’ll be easy to line up.

Next, I grabbed the bats and glued them together before placing them onto the welded bat section of the card insert. Then I folded along the scored lines to prep for when we’d glue it into the card.

Now we’ll grab the white layer for the back of our card and glue it to the outside, so the scored tabs of the main area we decorated remain inside. Once glued, we’ll grab the green field area and glue it inside; this will hide those scored tabs. I then added foam tape to the small home run field and placed it inside, on the green field, slightly having it towards the top portion of the card so it will remain visible.

Up next, we’ll be gluing our insert into the card. I did this by gluing one tab first and then sliding it in before gluing just a dot of glue on the opposite side on the top and bottom portions of the tab. I also added foam tape to the baseball for the front of the card and then glued the panels I had to recut for the blue decorative layer - notice how it’s visible now from the front/top. I decided to add a layered mitt from Cricut Design Space and add that to the front of the card as well with foam tape.

I love how this box card turned out and can't wait to gift it! The neat thing about box cards is that they fold flat so you can place them in an envelope. You can either size your card to fit in a standard A7 envelope, or make your own envelope to hold you box card.

You can also use this as a decoration at a 4th of July or Baseball-themed party, or add a rectangle with tabs to the bottom to use it as a treat box and fill it with goodies. So many fun possibilities!
