Valentine Viewfinder Scrapbook Layout and Cards

Hello everyone! Today I’m sharing with you these projects I created with a Valentine’s Day theme.

Sometimes when you create you end up with leftovers. Today I will show you how you can create something and use up what you have leftover to create some fun cards. Using a paper pack is the perfect way to get the right colors for your special occasions without getting more than you need!

Supplies Needed:

  • Electronic die cutting machine, dies, craft knife
  • Adhesive
  • SpiegelMom Scraps sequins

Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers

  • Be My Valentine paper multi-pack
  • Sweet Tooth Pop-Tone
  • Black Licorice Pop-Tone
  • Pure White

Optional:

  • Pattern paper
  • Embellishments
  • Alpha stickers

The cut file I used (purchased from Silhouette Store) was a heart viewfinder. It was perfect to use all of the Be My Valentine paper pack colors.  It gives the subtle feeling of love and Valentine’s Day which was perfect for my first project, a scrapbook layout.

To start, I used my electronic die cutting machine and the Sweet Tooth cardstock to cut the main part of the cut file out five times. Then I cut the background portion out of each of the five amazing colors that come in the Be My Valentine paper pack. The paper from the pack is the 65# cardstock which is perfect for backing cut files because it doesn’t add bulk to your projects. I used some adhesive and easy assembled my viewfinder discs.

For my scrapbook layout, I used half of each disc to create a vertical element on my page. I was able to use up some scrap pattern paper that compliments the colors in the Be My Valentine paper pack to create layers. I backed my photo with some Sweet Tooth and Black Licorice cardstock to mat my photo.

Then I went to town using up heart stickers from my stash. I felt that I needed some more white sprinkled in throughout my layout so I used a few of the offcuts from the viewfinder die-cut to add that needed white space. Then I added the sparkle! SpiegelMom Scraps makes beautiful sequin mixes and the special mix we received to play with was just right for this layout. I added the sequins mixed in with my embellishments over the entire layout. Then I added my title and subtitles for the layout to finish it off.

When I was finished with this layout I realized I still had the other half of each viewfinder disc leftover. So I decided to make a few Valentine’s Day cards. I used the Pure White cardstock and create the base of my cards. This is my favorite cardstock for making cards because it takes ink well when you stamp and you can use it in your printer easily and the image will come out vibrant. To each base, I added one of the viewfinder discs. Then I added stickers using up more of my sticker stash. Finally, I brought the sparkle again and added SpiegelMom Scraps sequins to each card. These were super fast and easy cards!
