Stamped and Die Cut Beach Card

Stamped and Die Cut Beach Card

Hey Everyone, Kayla here from HoneyBee Paper Co. Today I will be making a project much different from the past projects I’ve done for the Cardstock-Warehouse blog!

Having this Shelter in Place Order has really made me miss the beach, and I only live 5 minutes from it! So I thought it would be fun to daydream about relaxing on the beach, listening to the waves crash and breathing in the fresh air by making a fun card... and we all deserve a little relaxation these days!

It has been quite a while since I have pulled out my Cricut Cuttlebug machine. Let’s be honest, it has been over a year! But I am so excited about this card, so let’s get started!

SUPPLIES:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers: Spearmint, Banana Split, Oatmeal, Bagdad Brown, Barely Gray, Sour Apple, Adriatic Blue, Sirio Ultra Black, Whip Cream, True White Speckletone
  • Die Cutting Machine(s)
  • Stamping Platform
  • Beach-themed Stamp & Die Cut set
  • A7 Card Base
  • Foam adhesive squares
  • Zig 2-Way Glue Pen
  • Crafters Tape
  • Black Ink Pad

To get started, let’s gather our supplies.

Beach die cut and stamped card supplies

Next, I am going to take my Cricut Cuttlebug die cutter and begin cutting the pieces for the trees and hammock. I used the following papers for each element:

Tree tops- Sour Apple; Coconuts- Bagdad Brown; Tree Trunks- Oatmeal; Hammock base- Whip Cream; Hammock "strings"- Spearmint.

Now, to create the bear that will be laying in the hammock,  I will use my stamping platform, black ink, my beach dies set, and the Oatmeal cardstock, as well as the Sirio Ultra Black for the sunglasses. Start by stamping the bear onto the oatmeal paper, next place the die cut onto the outline of the stamp and run it through the Cuttlebug.

The rest of my pieces for this card will be cut using my Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine. The colors for each piece are:

Sunrays- Banana Split; Birds- Barely Gray; Sand- True White Speckletone; Sky Background- Adriatic Blue.

Now that we have our pieces cut, let's begin assembling our dreamy paradise card!

Die cut pieces for beach card with adhesives

Let’s start by taking the background in Adriatic Blue, and then gluing the sun die cut over it. Then take the True White Speckletone sand die cut and glue the taller piece to the assembled background and then place mounting tape on the back of the shorter sand cut out. This will give the scene a little more dimension. For the palm trees, take the base of the tree and glue the palms to the tops as well as glue the coconut pieces to the base. Next, place mounting tape on the backsides of the trees and place them on the card. Then assemble the hammock by gluing the Whip Cream back to the Spearmint top, place mounting tape on the back and adhere it to the card between the two palm trees. Using mounting tape on the back, place the bear on the hammock, don’t forget to glue his cool shades on! As for the birds and the clouds, go ahead and adhere to them as you would like!
