Grateful Pumpkin Stamped Greeting Card

Grateful Pumpkin Stamped Greeting Card

Hey y’all!!! Stephanie here from Coffee Stamps Chaos with a fun fall card using a Unity Stamp Co stamp from the August Kit of the Month, paired with a die cut sentiment from Gina Marie Designs and of course, my most favorite, can’t live without it supply… YUP! You guessed it, cardstock from Cardstock Warehouse!!!!

Happy Fall... I think… Okay maybe it doesn’t feel like fall where you live, but here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, our seasons aren’t on the same schedule as the rest of the world so we sometimes end up with several seasons in the same day. Weird I know, but I love my state with its very own seasonal clock. I also love fall, hot drinks, soups and stews, cozy socks and blankets and all the colors of the changing leaves, sunsets and textures; they inspire me to create.

As usual, when fall comes around, I find myself considering the things I am grateful for, which I do all year but fall cards usually have something to do with being thankful and grateful, so naturally, you consider those things a little more. Right now, I am grateful that school is back in session and ALL of my little kids are in school ALL day, a semi normal routine has returned to my house, my kids are excited to see their friends at school and excitedly come tell me all about what they’re learning. It also means fall is here, which means yummy crockpot soups, stews, and hot drinks make up regular meals in my home.

Fall also makes me think about food, I love food all year, but there’s something so satisfying about hot filling soups and stews that just makes me happy and content and make my house smell amazing. Food makes me almost as happy as craft supplies, but we aren’t here to talk about food, so let’s get to the details of this card creation!

For this card you will need the following:

Grateful Pumpkin Cardstock Paper Greeting Card Paper Swatches

Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers:

  • Foundations Collection: Recycled White 80lb
  • Stardream Collection: Copper 105lb
  • Sirio Ultra Black 104 lb
  • Cherry Wood Veneer 12pt

  • A fall stamp or any line art stamp you can color would do for this
  • I used a stamp from my Unity Stamp Company August 2019 Kit of the Month

  • Marker safe Ink - I love Gina K Amalgam Ink because it is perfect for any medium!
  • Markers or some kind of coloring medium; I used Copic Sketch Markers
  • Distress Oxide Inks: Chipped Sapphire & Stormy Sky
  • Post it paper (for masking)
  • Blending Brushes or sponges
  • White gel pen (I love Gelly Roll 05 for details)
  • Distress Stain (to stain the veneer paper)
  • Adhesive - I used my ATG, Nuvo Glue and Nuvo Glue Pen
  • Die Cutting Machine - I use a Spellbinders Platinum
  • Non Stick Scissors
  • Foam tape
  • Optional: Thin chipboard (for sentiment layers)

Dies used:

  • Gina Marie Designs Blessed Grateful Thankful Die Set
  • Hero Arts Rectangle Infinity Dies

Start by stamping your image on Recycled White paper. Then, color in your image with Copic markers, or alcohol markers of your choice. I like to use lots of colors and do lots of shading, but you can make yours as simple or as complex as you want. You can see the colors I used below.

Grateful Pumpkin Cardstock Paper Greeting Card Stamping Image and Coloring

Once your image is fully colored, mask it using post-it paper or masking paper. This part is a bit time consuming, but it will be work it in the end. Once you have your area masked off, use blending brushes or sponged with distress oxide ink to create your background.

Remove the mask to reveal your image - I love this part! Trim along the bottom edge of stamped image. You can use precision-tip scissors or an exacto knife for this.

Cut one piece of Cherry Wood Veneer paper to about 2 x 4.25 inches. Cut another piece of veneer to 4.25 x 5.5. I wanted the wood pieces to be a darker wood, so I applied Distress Stain using a foam dauber. You can use a dauber, sponge, or paint brush to apply your stain. You can also "stain" the wood using alcohol markers, or a blending brush and stamping ink. I stained the smaller strip darker than the larger panel so I would have two different colors of wood. The more stain you apply, the darker it gets. You can also use two colors of stain.

Cut out your sentiment pieces. I like to cut multiple and glue them together to get more dimension. I like chunky cards! I also "stained" the sentiment with a brown Copic marker to make it a bit darker.

Grateful Pumpkin Cardstock Paper Greeting Card Layering Sentiment

Cut your stained veneer piece to fit below the stamped image. This will look like the "floor" your basket is sitting on. Attach your stamped image above the veneer "floor" and then trim the entire panel to the desired size. The size will depend on how many mats you want on your card.

I like to create cards with lots of layers, so I cut mats in multiple cardstocks and layered them on top of an A2 Copper Stardream card base. (A2 card bases are 4.25 x 5.5 inches when folded in half.)

My layers are the following sizes:

  • Copper Card Base: A2 4.25x5.5 inches
  • Sirio Ultra Black Mat: 3.5x4.75 inches
  • Stained Wood Veneer Mat: 3.25x4.5 inches
  • Stamped image with wood "floor" panel: 3x4.25

Once you have all of your pieces layered, glue on your sentiment. I then added little white accents with a white Gelly Roll pen. These pens are great for adding small touches to cards!
