DIY Wedding Seating Chart Mirror

DIY Wedding Seating Chart

Hey, friends! Ivy here from @ivypinkmade! If you've been following along, then you know my youngest asked me to create some of the paper goods for her wedding. I've already shown you her invitations that I DIYed and had printed by Cardstock Warehouse, but today I want to show you the coordinating seating chart I made!

If you have a wedding or special event coming up, this is such a beautiful seating chart idea that’s fairly quick and easy to make. You can adjust the sizing for your mirror or frame, or even hang these on a banner!

Supplies:

Step 1: Design Your Seating Chart

We had an amazing large mirror to work with for this project, so my measurements are specific to this mirror. To design your own, I suggest finding a large mirror, a very large frame, or a large board of some kind on an easel. Use your imagination here, and don't forget about thrift stores for less expensive options.

My mirror is about 24 inches wide, and I have 12 tables, so I decided on a 4x3 grid of 5-inch by 7-inch cards. This means my layers would be these cardstock sizes:

  • Ivory (printed) layer: 4.25 x 6.25
  • Cipria layer: 4.50 x 6.50
  • Verdigris layer: 5 x 7

Now that I have that info, I can format my sheets for printing. When choosing your sizing for your own, don't forget to account for the space between each card once they are attached.

Step 2: Print the Guest Names

Format your names, by table, on a design program of your choosing. I took an 8.5x11 landscape document, created two 4.25x6.25 rectangles, and made two tables per sheet. Before you print, don't forget to double-check all the names to make sure they have been spelled correctly. I used an inkjet printer on Ivory cardstock.

For the cleanest results, I recommend:

  • Using a simple, easy-to-read font for guest names
  • Printing a few test sheets first to check spacing and sizing
  • Leaving enough margin around the text so the layered borders really stand out

Step 3: Cut & Layer the Cardstock

I cut my printed sheets, Cipria mats, and Verdigris background panels down using my paper cutter. Then, I used double-sided adhesive to attach the layers together. This part is super easy!

The color combination of Cipria, Verdigris, and Ivory worked so beautifully together and added a soft romantic feel that was perfect for this wedding.

Step 4: Arrange Everything on the Mirror

Once all the layered cards were assembled, I started arranging them directly onto the mirror. Before attaching anything with real adhesive, I planned everything out and made straight lines on my mirror with painter's tape. You can also attach the cards to the mirror temporarily with rolled up painter's tape on the back.

I lined everything up at the perfect height so guests could comfortably find their names without needing to bend down, but also allowing a little room at the top to add a header.

Once I had the spacing correct, I used removable glue dots to adhere the cards to the mirror. This will hold tightly until the wedding is over, but will also not damage the mirror when we remove them.

To finish the look, I added a vinyl decal at the top of the mirror that said “Your Seats Are Saved. Let’s Celebrate.”

Step 5: Wedding Day!

This is such a great option if you want a seating chart that feels elevated and beautiful without being overly complicated or costing a fortune. Depending on the type of mirror or frame you are using, you could also put fresh flowers or garlands on top or around the frame.

I hope this project inspired you to Make Something Beautiful® for your special day. We'd love to see your DIY projects! Share them with us on Facebook or Instagram and tag us (@cardstockwarehouse) to be featured in our stories.
