Hello, fellow paper crafters! I’m Angenise with @thegracefulpenstudio, and I’m excited to share this technique of adding layers and following your crafting intuition.
Today I’m sharing this book lovers card for Father’s Day that features die cut books along with hand lettering for a truly handmade feel. I was inspired by my own dad, who is a retired pastor and Bible college professor. Growing up, there was never a shortage of books laying around that he’d study from, and I felt this was the perfect way to honor that memory.
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock papers:
- Adhesives
- Craft Supplies:
- Die Cutting/Embossing Machine
- The Greetery Shelved Die Set and Details Set
- Paper Trimmer
- Scoring Board and Tool
- Craft Tweezers or Wax Embellishment Picker Tool
- Calligraphy Supplies:
- Calligraphy nib (Hunt 101)
- Ferris Wheel Press Embers of Time fountain pen ink (or your ink of choice)
- Sakura Pigma Micron .03 Fineliner (black)
- Uni Ball Signo Pen (white)
Whether you're a beginner or experienced crafter, I find it is often easiest to learn using video, where you can go at your own pace and really see the steps. For that reason, I have created a full tutorial where you can watch me cut the card base, die cut and assemble my books, and add some beautiful calligraphy as a final touch.
If you don't have the die set I am using, you could use an electronic machine to cut book shapes, or cut rectangles by hand and use punches or other small shapes to embellish the books. The only limit here is your imagination!
