3D Paper Tulip Garland

3D Paper Tulip Garland

Even though it’s still snowing here at my house, it’s technically spring according to the calendar. To help it feel more like spring I’ve created this fun 3D tulip garland to add a little pop of color while I wait for the real tulips to bloom! String this across a mantle or hang it on a wall for a fun colorful spring display! The new colors in the Woodstock Collection are perfect for this!

To create this cute 3D tulip garland, you will need:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Papers:
    • Verde Woodstock 83 Lb. Cover
    • Azzurro Woodstock 83 Lb. Cover
    • Giallo Woodstock 83 Lb. Cover
    • Cipria Woodstock 83 Lb. Cover
    • Malva Woodstock 83 Lb. Cover
  • Cricut Maker, or Explore
  • Scoring tool, or scoring wheel tool
  • Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Bakers Twine

Now that you have everything you need, let’s get to work creating this fun 3D Tulip banner!

To begin, cut all of your pieces on your cutting machine. I found a tulip shape that I liked on my Cricut (image #M3D003), detached the petal piece from the leaf base, and attached a score line down the center of the petal piece. Then, I duplicated it 4 times for each flower, and duplicated the stem once for each flower. You can do this with any flower file, as long as is vertically symmetrical. (Will not work with asymmetrical flowers.) This particular file also has a little face on it, so I used the "contour" feature to remove that part. You can find the full Cricut Project File HERE!

I cut all my pieces, using Verde for the stems, and the other 4 colors for the flowers.

After cutting out all of your paper pieces, you’ll start by folding along all of the score lines on the tulip petal pieces.

Each tulip will use 4 of the petal pieces. Take two of the petals and glue them together, do this with the remaining two petals as well.

After you have let the two petal pieces dry, you will glue those two pieces together to create one 3D petal piece.

After allowing the petal piece to dry, you will glue the petal pieces to the green leaf piece.

Then you will glue a second green leaf piece behind the first leaf piece and fold up the leaves to give it a 3D effect.

You will repeat this process for all of the tulip colors, making as many as you’d like for the length of garland you want.

The last step will be to attach all of your complete tulips to some colorful bakers twine or ribbon and hang up in your desired location.

You can add additional embellishments to the twine if desired, for example, some pom poms or bows might look nice between the tulips. You could also write a name on the leaf and use the individual tulip as a place card at your Easter table.

So whip up some of these 3D tulips and make a fun spring banner today. It will help bring some spring inside if it’s still snowing like it is here at my house!

Hi Terri and Sue,
It looks like the original file was having a glitch with the new Cricut update. Randall fixed it, and the linked project should be working now! Thanks for letting us know!

I tried making this tulip banner with my cricut it will only score the tulips will not cut them out when though they show they are attached. Very frustrating I have tried several times will not switch to cut after scoring.

After I go through and score the tulips and cut the stems, I never has me go back and cut the actual tulip shapes out. I am no pro, but have tried several things to no avail.
